Global Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Overview

The Global Category Specialist is responsible for supporting Global Strategic Sourcing & category management efforts. This individual's primary focus is conducting strategic sourcing activities across a broad set of categories including Direct, Indirect, and R&D categories. Additionally, this individual will support department goals and objectives by providing project support across the Global Strategic Sourcing project pipeline.

This position is hybrid and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing and project-specific support to Category Manager(s)
  • Drive category management analytics through data collection, data and trend analysis, and data visualization/dashboarding
  • Contribute to ongoing maintenance and refresh of global category strategies under the direction of a Category Manager
  • Conduct market assessments, manage sourcing events (e.g. Requests for Proposals), and analyze proposals to summarize responses including cost and pricing
  • Support key Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities such as Quarterly Business Review management, and supplier feedback
  • Help identify sourcing opportunities by leveraging spend and procure to pay analytics
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders under the direction of a Category Manager
  • Collaborate with Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) Center of Excellence (COE), in support of implementation and execution department initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. BS in Business, Supply Chain, or related field desired.
  • 2+ years procurement experience required (biotech or pharmaceutical industry preferred) in procurement/strategic sourcing, operations, finance, supply chain or similar area.
  • Skills in the following key competencies: communications, project management, relationship management, influencing negotiation, financial acumen, analytical skills, aptitude for technology, results focus, professionalism, and success in a matrixed environment.
  • Course work in Supply Chain Management, Management Information Systems (MIS), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP a plus
  • Experience with eSourcing, spend analysis, or contract management systems desired
  • Interpersonal skills that support high level interactions with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and team player.
  • Ability to work sensitively with confidential material.
