In this role, you will have the opportunity to:



  • Function in wastewater process engineer role to support Senior Process Engineers
  • Function in wastewater process mechanical engineer role to support detailed design
  • Subject matter apprentice (SMA) or practitioner (SMP) in the areas of wastewater treatment, wastewater
    process modeling, and process controls.
  • Experience in liquid and solids treatment wastewater microbial communities, resource recovery, and solids
    processing is desirable.


In this role, your primarily focus will be on providing technical support and expertise to support projects in the East
Business Unit. In addition, it would also include diverse opportunities supporting wastewater projects in other
business units to support BC's National Wastewater Practice and Research and Innovation Portfolios.

Key Responsibilities



  • Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables, including process models, process/mass balance
    calculations, design criteria/basis of design memoranda, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, alternatives
    evaluation studies, and master planning studies.
  • Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of calculations, technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and
    miscellaneous contract documents.
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications as part of engineering services during
    construction.
  • Develops recommendations for appropriate treatment processes, equipment and/or materials selection.
  • Conducts and oversees collection, assimilation, analysis, and management of data for process modeling and
    design work.
  • Ability to work independently to develop design information and specifications
  • Communicate eectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (drafters,
    designers, and other engineers).
  • Successfully manage and deliver assignments on time and on budget.
  • Adhere to Brown and Caldwell's QA/QC process.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Advanced degree (Master's or Doctoral) in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in wastewater treatment.
  • Experience with laboratory or pilot scale testing preferred.
  • Knowledge of process or process-mechanical design for treatment of municipal wastewater and sludges,
    engineering and bioreactor design principles, and applicable design guides and standards related to
    assigned engineering discipline.
  • Experience or familiarity with using wastewater treatment facility process simulators such as BioWin, GPS-X,
    and/or SUMO,
  • Advanced communication skills for consulting, project execution, client services, and business development.
  • Effective written and oral communications


Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Master' degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the
country in which the professional is practicing.. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding
requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen,
and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Certifications
Professional engineering license from any of the states in the USA or ability to obtain one within 2 years of
employment preferred.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
Typical office environment, typical construction environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety
hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions
(fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation). Sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding,
driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods of time, lifting or carrying up to
60 pounds.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $72,000 - 98,000

Location B: $79,000 - 108,000

Location C: $87,000 - 118,000
