A Programmable Logic Controller Technician job in Paterson, WA is available at Ste. Michelle Wine Estates (SMWE). The Programmable Logic Controller Technician's primary function is to trouble shoot, repair, upgrade, install, and improve the wine making and bottling process. Under minimal supervision this position ensures maximum operating efficiency to controls systems and components. This position performs highly diversified duties including preventive maintenance, inspection of equipment, advanced trouble shooting, calibrations, and continuous improvement related to process controls.

Programmable Logic Controller Technician job responsibilities include:



  • Must understand and apply safe work practices related to electrical and mechanical work.
  • Trains lesser skilled technicians and guides maintenance team on process controls and calibration best practices
  • Familiarity with AC and DC electrical system to include low voltage DC control circuits.
  • Experience and ability to plan control schemes, controls wiring layouts and installation of electrical equipment and safety systems related to processing controls.
  • Extensive working knowledge and experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), electrical motors, servos, process controls (PLCs), alarm systems, fire systems, intercoms, and network wiring.
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLC 500, Control Logic, DeviceNet, EthernetIP and other programable logic controllers.
  • Advanced knowledge of Control Logic, RSnetworks, and Factory Talk programming software.
  • Experience with running control wiring that would include conduit, and wire ways.
  • Ability to calculate electrical requirements in compliance with NEC codes.
  • Knowledge in process control instrument calibrations.
  • Mechanical knowledge and ability to install motors, servos, gear boxes, pumps and other mechanical devices needed for processes and process control.
  • Able to perform calculations related to processing and controls needs. Examples include volume, flow rate, temperature change, unit of measure conversions, gear box output speeds, and rate of change.
  • Working knowledge of a work order management system (CMMS) with abilities to write work requests, parts request, follow work order directions, complete work orders, and communicate effectively with a maintenance planner and supervisor electronically. Preferred familiarity with JD Edwards Enterprise One


Position Requirements:



  • High School Diploma/equivalent
  • Five (5) years experience in a winery, food processing facility or similar environment
  • Ability to work extended hours during harvest & Peak periods, rotating shift work, and weekends.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age (alcohol)


Your Compensation:

$36.92 - $48.93/hr. based upon relevant experience.
