JOB SUMMARY:

The Operations Manager of Valve & Mechanical Services is responsible for the efficient operation, quality, and P&L management of the Mechanical Valve Repair /Machining facility, overseeing multiple projects including scheduling, engineering, budgets, production, material and document control, and purchases. The Operations Manager of Mechanical Services also ensures that all Valve Repair activities comply with set standards of quality.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Manage all Valve Repair/machining activities occurring at the facility with special concerns for safety, quality, production, profit, and cost.
  • Coordinate and supervise Valve Repair/machining activities (including inventory and purchasing department) to ensure availability of product and efficient use of materials, equipment, and employees.
  • Assign work to Valve Repair personnel; set work schedules; inspect work and evaluate performance.
  • Direct supervision and motivation of all Valve Repair production personnel. Oversee and ensure the efficiency and quality of supervisory and staff. Plan schedules for Valve Repair lead hands & machinist.
  • Quality control of valve testing and valve repair activities and product. Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure that all work produced in the Valve Repair shop meets quality requirements.
  • Ensure that all Valve Repair personnel are properly certified and trained (i.e. National Board certifications). Understand and enforce certification guidelines relating to safety relief procedures.
  • Inspect Valve Repair facilities and equipment. Make changes in allocation of space and storage of product. Evaluate and recommend major equipment additions / modifications.
  • Provide and maintain accurate Valve Repair timelines. Develop production goals and track results for Valve Repair jobs in progress. Monitor, plan and schedule jobs to ensure on-time shipments and maximize efficiency. Take ownership of delegated projects and manage to completion.
  • Enforce policies and procedures and ensure compliance with all Legislated and Company safety procedures.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:



  • General knowledge valve repair/machining equipment, modern shop technology, equipment, practices and procedures.
  • Valve Repair experience - familiarity with production planning and scheduling.
  • Knowledge and experience in NBIC regulatory requirements and safety practices.
  • Manage the adherence to prescribed procedures to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Shop, personnel, and project management experience. Ability to implement and adhere to strict schedules, timelines, and budgets.


    • Highly organized and able to multi-task effectively, make quick decisions, and efficiently organize others.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and put in additional hours to meet deadlines and schedules
    • Ability to organize, coordinate, supervise and monitor the performance of Valve Repair personnel.
    • Ability to instruct or train staff in specific operating and technical work methods or procedures.
    • Strong leadership skills. Able to manage a diverse group of people and motivate
      staff to work together as one team.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suites programs
