Position Summary

UNM-Taos' Health Sciences Department invites applicants living in New Mexico to apply for Temporary Part time Faculty positions (Adjunct) to teach a lower division course in PBT 101- Phlebotomy Technician. This posting is for both face to face and remote delivery of courses.

These positions will be hired on an as needed basis dependent on student enrollment, course offering matrix, and graduation requirements. The specific courses include, but are not limited to, the following:

PBT 101 - Phlebotomy Technician (8)

This course prepares students for American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certified Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification. Successful completion of an apprenticeship at a clinical worksite is required.

8.000 Credit hours

8.000 Lecture hours

PBT 102L - Certified Phlebotomy Technician Clinical (4)

Clinical apprenticeship program for PBT 101L. Successful completion required for credit in PBT 101L. Corequisite: PBT 101L.

4.000 Credit hours

4.000 Lab hours

Meets New Mexico General Education Curriculum


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
To teach or develop courses
in the field or subfield for which you are applying are determined by Higher
Learning Commission's accreditation requirements for faculty, and must be met
in these ways:

  1. Current New Mexico
    and/or National Phlebotomy Certification.
  2. Completed
    15 college credit hours in health science related courses

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Associate or Bachelor degree in health sciences or related
    field
  2. At least three years experience as a
    phlebotomist.
  3. Knowledge of education methods as well as current certification
    procedures
  4. Teaching experience in a post-secondary institution, particularly
    community college experience.
  5. A demonstrated commitment to
    diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with
    broadly diverse communities.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work
    with groups in a collaborative atmosphere
