What This Job Involves:
Oversee and guide third-party contractors in maintaining and repairing the campus's HVAC, utilities, plumbing/piping, and site mechanical and fire/life safety systems. This includes managing water and steam processes, fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, sprinkler risers, and various fire systems. Possess high technical expertise across a range of building infrastructure systems. Conduct both preventive and corrective maintenance on various systems and equipment. Perform repairs, maintenance, restoration, and replacement of building structures. Exhibit expertise in HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting and be multi-skilled in other areas such as plumbing and electrical work. Flexibly assist with tasks across different trades as needed. Responsible for fabricating and installing various equipment and managing and supporting projects and installations. May also perform general maintenance and support duties as needed. What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like: Maintain fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, safety showers, and exit lights. Coordinate and conduct sprinkler inspections and water flow testing (NFPA). Perform facility inspections and report conditions affecting client occupancy, operations, and safety. Oversee repair, maintenance, and installation of piping, plumbing, and life safety systems. Recognize and troubleshoot system issues promptly for operational and emergency response. Check malfunctioning equipment and determine corrective actions. Install and repair mechanical equipment, including pumps and fans. Perform minor fabrication using machine shop equipment like lathes and drill presses. Undertake rigging and moving of equipment. Repair locks, doors, and controllers. Maintain plumbing systems, including fixtures and water systems. Conduct various building maintenance and repair tasks. Repair single-phase electrical components and perform temporary roofing repairs. Prepare and paint building surfaces. Handle general office maintenance tasks. Perform vehicle safety inspections. Operate and maintain tools and equipment related to the craft. Complete necessary job-related permits and Job Hazard Analysis. Wear required personal protective equipment for different tasks. Estimate costs and order materials as needed. Operate lifts, forklifts, and respirators. Work at heights and in confined spaces. Adhere to safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Ensure compliance with relevant ordinances and codes. Document work performance and material procurement. Physical Job Requirements: Capable of performing job functions safely, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working at heights. Skilled in operating electric tools, ladders, and motor vehicles. Able to work in confined spaces. Work conditions may vary, including outdoor work in different weather. Work Schedule: Shift Pattern: 4 days on, 3 days off Hours: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM, Wednesday through Saturday On-Call Requirements: Available for on-call duties. May require evening, night, and weekend work. Subject to 24-hour availability in all weather conditions. Desired or Preferred Experience and Technical Skills: Trade license or equivalent vocational certification. Experience in controlled environments is a plus. Required Skills and Experience: 5+ years of experience with piping/plumbing systems, mechanical systems, and boiler operations. Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision. Customer service-oriented with strong interpersonal skills. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Proficient with computer systems, including Microsoft Office and Outlook. Skilled in conflict resolution. |
