POSITION TYPE: SeasonalFull and Part Time WAGE RANGE: $15 to $18 SUPERVISORY: No SUPERVISED BY: Patrol Manager POSITION SUMMARY: Training area for Ski Patrol. Skill training and labor position for Ski Patrol Safety/Trail Maintenance. Applicants need to be 18 years or older. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Must ski all terrain. Must identify, mark, or repair hazards. Work with chainsaws, shovels, and packs. Might assist with rescue and medical efforts. Will not work with explosives or do avalanche control work. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES : Must have extensive knowledge of Schweitzer Mountain Resort facilities and activities. Responsibilities are listed as guidelines and the position is not necessarily limited to these items. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SKILLS: Expert skier, knowledge of Schweitzer Mountain terrain. EDUCATION: English reading, writing and communication skills; high school graduate. EXPERIENCE: Skiing and terrain knowledge needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to ski for up to 8 hours per day. May sit up to hour per day; can go inside at will to warm up, rest, eat lunch, etc. Must lift up to 55lbs frequently; up to 100lbs occasionally. Will lift boxes of dynamite, packs, and sleds; will bend and squat frequently; will climb, twist, and reach above shoulder level occasionally. Will use hands for grasping, pushing/pulling and fine manipulation. No foot control use. All sensory skills are required. Worksite is 30% inside and 70% outside. MACHINES/TOOLS OPERATED: Chain saws, shovels, and carry packs. Skiing equipment. JUDGMENT/MENTAL COMPLEXITY: Moderate, must recognize hazards and repair them for the safety of others. REVIEW SCHEDULE: This position and the person filling it will be evaluated. |
