Position Summary

The University of New Mexico's College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences (UL&LS) Graduate & Faculty Engagement unit seeks a graduate student interested in promoting access and use of the All of Us researcher workbench. The workbench is a cloud computing environment that provides secure access to and analysis of a biomedical dataset covering a large and diverse sample of the American population. The student will work closely with librarians from UL&LS and the Health Sciences Library & Informatics Center to help researchers complete the All of Us Data User Code of Conduct and other onboarding processes. The student will also assist with development of educational materials and resources to support use of the cloud computing environment. This is an on-campus position.

Primary duties will include:



  • Outreach to faculty and departments to increase awareness of the All of Us program, data, and researcher workbench.
  • Development of learning objects about topics related to accessing and using the All of Us researcher workbench. Topics include overviews of the All of Us program and dataset, requirements for accessing restricted and controlled tier data, and navigating the cloud computing workbench environment.
  • Creation and updating of library guides and other publicly accessible information resources about the All of Us program.


All UL&LS student employees are employed on a term basis for the current/ impending school year.


Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.



Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Graduate student in residence at the University of New Mexico.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to work in Microsoft Windows, and use Microsoft Office and Adobe Applications


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of basic research methodology.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing environments and workflows.
  • Proficiency in Python, R/RStudio, SQL, or SAS.
  • Ability to provide instruction in Python, R/RStudio, SQL or SAS.
  • Knowledge of the OMOP Common Data Model.
  • Good organizational skills, good attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
