Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for leading the financial operations at the St. Louis, MO plant and contributes to the business strategy of the site as a key member of the senior leadership team. The site controller is responsible for providing leadership and direction in the areas of general and cost accounting, corporate reporting, budgeting and forecasting, risk analysis, and ensures compliance with GAAP and company policies. As a site leader, the controller is expected to interact with all functional groups within the plant to serve as the finance business partner in supporting business decisions. This position supervises general accounting, cost accounting, and payroll functions.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide financial information and advice to Site Leadership to allow for proper business decisions regarding all site operations that will maximize performance and financial return.
  • Interacts with managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and operational analyses, reports and recommendations.
  • Ensure that the St. Louis Plant complies with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and all Company financial policies/procedures.
  • Manage the monthly close process and the preparation of required financial reports.
  • Manage the preparation of the monthly forecasts, annual budget, and annual strategic plan.
  • Assesses organizational performance against budget and makes actionable recommendations together with heads of operational departments.
  • Manage the calculation of standard costs to ensure the proper assignment of costs.
  • Ensure proper accounting of inventory movement and valuation is performed timely and accurately.
  • Oversee all site audit activities and acts as the liaison for internal and external audit partners to meet Sarbanes-Oxley requirements; ensures proper internal controls are in place and functioning properly at the plant.
  • Provide financial support for the site Performance Excellence program including calculating savings of the various cost reduction projects.
  • Prepare and provide information to Corporate as required, including quarterly and year-end reports, tax information, government surveys, etc.
  • Oversee the processing of payroll for the hourly workforce.
  • Develop direct reports through effective performance management and ensure that the annual review process for those direct reports is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Continuously improve processes and systems with a view toward cost reduction and real time accuracy.
  • Participate in site management meetings and activities as required, including off-site or out-of-town meetings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Minimum of an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university, with emphasis in Accounting or Finance. MBA preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive Accounting/Finance experience and responsibility, with at least three (3) years of experience as a Controller or Manager in a manufacturing environment. Strong cost accounting experience preferred.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

CPA, CMA preferred

Skills/Competencies:

Thorough working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

High skill level in Cost Accounting, Budgeting, and Forecasting

Excellent project management skills

Strong management and organizational development skills

Proven leadership and success in the development of others

Excellent communication (verbal and written)

Ability to consult and influence decision-making process of senior management.

Ability to interact positively with employees at all levels of the organization regarding accounting and finance

Experience presenting financial data to non-financial audiences

Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills

Excellent skills using Microsoft Office applications

Other Skills:

Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment

Possesses managerial courage to confront and handle difficult business situations

Experience and training in Six Sigma, Lean, or related methodologies is preferred

Experience in an FDA regulated facility is preferred

Experience with enterprise systems such as JDE or BPCS preferred

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE: This position reports to the Operations Controller in Webster Groves, MO. This position oversees the employees within the accounting and payroll function at the site.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office surroundings
