Job Summary

The mission of People Operations is to provide strategic and organizational solutions that enable our workforce to deliver unparalleled value to our customers and our mission. As an experienced member of the People Management team, you will be part of the Center of Expertise (COE) responsible for Performance Management and Employee Relations. We are looking for a proven self-starter who has solid employee relations experience in this individual contributor role directly reporting to the Director of People Management.

Work Model

This is a regular, full-time position based on one of our campus locations (El Segundo CA, or Chantilly VA, or Crystal City DC, or Colorado Springs CO,) offering a hybrid work model that combines 3+ regular workdays onsite and remote flexibility the balance of the week, or as business needs allow.

The candidate must be willing and able to actively support west coast time zone hours regardless of their own place of residency.

What You Will be Doing

  • Coach and partner with managers and employees at all levels to provide objective guidance and advice regarding employment policies, procedures, and employment practices to achieve resolution of complex issues such as misconduct, performance deficiencies, as well as accommodation requests.
  • Conduct effective investigations, including thoughtful conclusions and recommendations; draft and deliver comprehensive reports.
  • Provide expert direction, guidance, and consultation on a wide range of complex employee relations issues.
  • Become a subject matter expert (SME) in our performance evaluation processes; keep up to date on external performance management trends.
  • Develop and provide training on all aspects of goal setting, feedback, performance review preparation, and discussions, to include Workday systems usage.
  • Interpret and research policies and procedures, incorporating knowledge of state and federal employment laws (i.e. ADA, FMLA, EEO) and practices to recommend resolutions.
  • Work closely with management, Strategic People Partners (SPPs), and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Establish credibility and rapport by developing and maintaining strong and effective working relationships with all levels of management and employees regarding all types of employee relation issues (ADA, FMLA, misconduct, time & attendance etc).
  • Develop metrics and analytics reports for executives.
  • Initiate and participate in People Operations special projects.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Employee Relations Staff III:

  • Bachelors in Human Resources, Behavioral Sciences, or related discipline
  • Six or more years experience in Human Resources, including three or more years of direct experience in employee relations which may be included as part of a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) role
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Employee Relations Staff IV include:

  • Ten or more years experience in Human Resources, including five or more years of direct experience in employee relations which may be included as part of a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) role.

  • Masters degree in Human Resources, Behavioral Sciences, or related discipline
  • Proficiency in an Employee Relations case management software packages
  • Experience with Workday
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and consulting with managers and employees
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of effective employee relations practices and employment and labor laws and regulations
  • Ability to exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills and high level of initiative
  • Experience with conflict resolution strategies
  • Strong project and time management skills; extremely organized and able to work across multiple departments and stakeholders

We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$93,200 - $157,200 Pay Basis: Annual
