Position description

The Department of Emergency Medicine at UCLA is seeking applicants to join our full-time faculty in the next academic year. The position will be based at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, with clinical practice at Ronald Reagan-UCLA Medical Center (RRMC), Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center (SMMC), and/or UCLA West Valley Medical Center (WVMC). RRMC is an academic medical center on the main UCLA campus in Westwood, 520 bed, level 1 trauma center, with 55,000 annual ED visits, and consistently rated as one of the top hospitals in the country. SMMC is an academic-affiliated community hospital with 45,000 annual ED visits. WVMC is an academic-affiliated community hospital with 65,000 annual ED visits. All faculty share responsibilities for patient care and teaching our residents and UCLA medical students. Founded in 1978, our four-year EM residency program has 15 residents per year. We offer fellowships in toxicology, research, ultrasound, administration, health equity, medical education, and space medicine.

The Department is seeking candidates with a clear commitment to enhancing the diversity of the faculty, staff, and trainees. We encourage applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and improving access to higher education for disadvantaged students through teaching and mentoring.

We seek candidates at any Professorial level. Fellowship training and advanced degree preferred. Candidates must be Emergency Medicine residency trained, ABEM certified, eligible for California medical licensure, and qualified for faculty appointment in the UCLA School of Medicine.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications

Faculty in Emergency Medicine should demonstrate a commitment to emergency care, academic productivity and excellence in teaching, patient care, education, and research.

To be considered applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

* MD or DO degrees

* Successful completion of Emergency Medicine residency training in an ACGME or ACOGME accredited program

* Current ABEM or ABOEM certification

* A current unrestricted medical license in the United States

Preferred qualifications

In addition to the minimum criteria, the selection committee will consider the following when assessing applicants' qualifications:

* Fellowship training and advanced degree

* Excellence in teaching residents and medical students in the ED

* Superior procedural skills

* Experience at an academic medical center

* Outstanding professionalism and demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills

* Demonstration of scholarly productivity, including publication and presentation of original scholarly work
