Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Apply the fundamental principles of civil engineering design to Rail + Transit projects.

  • Contribute to the civil design of transit facilities, including stations, retaining walls, track, utilities, maintenance facilities etc.

  • Assist in producing engineering drawings and details from conception to final design, according to established standards and procedures.

  • Prepare plans, specifications and estimates in accordance with applicable design codes and agency design criteria.

  • Collaborate with other Designers and Project Managers, to support in providing progress reports for clients.

  • Coordinate document review by client and various agencies.

  • Develop production work plans, schedules and budgets.

  • Conduct independent quality control and quality assurance reviews.

  • Communicate and work with other project team members to provide quality service to clients to ensure that all documentation conforms to client/company standards.

  • Other assignments as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Illinois or Michigan PE license required, or the ability to gain licensure within 6-12 months of starting.

  • 4-8 years of related experience

  • Good organization skills, a self-starter;

  • Experience in roadway, parking, utility, site development and water resources design.

  • Experience in Microstation and/or AutoCAD required.

  • Experience in rail design desirable but not essential.

  • Experience in complimentary civil sectors such as land development, utilities, and other transportation disciplines is of interest to us.

  • Requires excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and interpersonal skills.

  • Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.

  • Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients' toughest challenges.

  • High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.

  • Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.

  • Participation in professional associations is desired (i.e. AREMA, APTA, ASCE, WTS, etc.)

Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of$73,000 - $130,000 annually for this position and local market. We recognize that each candidate brings a unique set of skills, experience, education and competencies to the table that will be reflected in our offer.
