The Outreach Athletic Trainer/Sports Performance Specialist supports Sports Medicine services with schools and community partners including daily operations, community outreach, injury prevention programming, research and coordination of care. The Specialist develops professional relationships with patients, families, and school communities by delivering a high level of customer service, and continuously improving the patient experience.

Responsibilities

Provides a level of detailed communication across the continuum of care involving patients, families, staff and school community.

Engages in the highest level of safety, injury prevention, and emergency procedures, including a high level of care associated with triage, assessment, diagnosis, and referral of sports medicine related healthcare concerns.
Designs, implements, and monitors age-appropriate injury prevention and performance enhancement programs for sports medicine clientele, schools, interscholastic teams and community youth organizations.
Communicates with children on a level that they'll understand with instruction, cueing and error correction.
Manages transition of student-athlete rehabilitation to performance training with sports medicine staff.
Coordinates, maintains, and staffs weight room or performance facilities, identifies and purchases equipment, and schedules training for various athletic programs.
Collaborates, with treating physical therapist to expand treatment and interventional options for complicated orthopedic pathology.

Qualifications

Education requirement:

Bachelor's degree in athletic training or closely related field, required
Master's degree, preferred
Licensure Requirement:
Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Ohio
Certifications:
BOC Certification, required
CPR Certification, required
National Strength & Conditioning and/or Americal College of Sports Medicine certification, preferred. Functional Movement Systems, USA Weightlifting, USA Track and Field certifications, preferred
Skills:
Knowledge of sports performance training methods and equipment.
Experience with Microsoft Office and injury documentation software, preferred
Ability to lead large groups training sessions
Knowledge of OHSAA and NCAA rules and regulations
Dialogue with physicians regarding current updates in evidence based rehabilitative protocols.
Experience:
2 years of related experience, including working with athletic and youth populations; preferred.
