SUMMARY

Responsible for all aspects of control systems including configuration, graphics, hardware and software maintenance, upgrades, operational needs, troubleshooting, loop tuning, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Control system administration and coordination including but not limited to:
    • Modify and implement new process control schemes for DCS, PLC, and SIS control systems.
    • Participate in projects tasks such as system design, programming, FAT, SFAT, commissioning, graphics design, and alarm management on larger team projects.
    • Sponsor and support technically complex control system related capital projects; including DCS conversions, modifications to configuration, graphics, loop tuning, alarm management, and control schemes.
    • Manage control system software and hardware maintenance for assigned system(s).
    • Plan control system software and hardware upgrades for assigned system(s).
    • Review diagnostic monitoring of assigned systems.
    • Maintain spare parts inventory for all aspects of the control systems.
    • Interface with data historian to capture data in control system for long term retrieval.
  • Provide support outside of normal business hour to operations during unit startup/shutdown.
  • Prepare, execute, and document management of change (MOC) as required for changes or projects.
  • Perform internal technical training sessions for other personnel.
  • Pursue training for control systems and increase working knowledge of process instrumentation.
  • Provide technical support to Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance.
  • Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site. Whenever appropriate; promptly report Safety, Health or Environmental incidents or issues to management so the situation can be corrected.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation throughout the year for after-hours support with other staff personnel.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Qualifications
    • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field from an ABET accredited program.
    • Ten-years minimum experience working on control systems in an industrial or manufacturing facility
    • Experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS, DeltaV SIS, DeltaV Live, and Allen Bradley PLC systems and HMIs preferred.
    • Exida Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP) preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job is performed mainly in an office or control room setting; physical presence is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; have full use and range of motion of arms, hands and fingers to reach, grasp, hold, push or pull, twist, and work with tools; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to perform tasks that may require bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lying down or working from elevated platforms. The employee must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to see details of objects that are more/less than a few feet away; see differences between colors, shades and brightness and determine the distance between objects. This job requires response to audible emergency alarms inside of the plant. Employee must be able to evacuate when required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee must be able to work in a normal factory environment, including enclosed spaces and exposure to various hazards. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, flame retardant clothing, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
