Description

The Department of Philosophy at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for an open rank position to begin in the Fall term of academic year 2025-26, with a specialization in ethics, value theory, and political philosophy, and a research focus on decision theory and the role of decision-theoretic issues and conceptual tools. We seek a scholar at the rank of full Professor, but we will consider candidates for appointment at any level.

The search will be conducted in collaboration with the University's Population Wellbeing Initiative, with which the successful candidate would be affiliated. That initiative's core research includes questions about the ordering of preferences and the aggregation and distribution of wellbeing.

Duties will include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and service to the department, college, and university.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. as of the date of appointment.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Position funding is subject to budget availability.
