Responsibilities

    Provide beginner level technical support for the team's data protection and customer supported systems via on-site (assigned duty station) and remote access for geographically separated enterprise systems.
  • Assists senior team members in operations, monitoring, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of HW and SW associated with assigned data protection systems and services, throughout the enterprise.
  • Successful and on-time completion of all assigned training and actively acquires skills and knowledge necessary to maintain DPSA-1 proficiencies and mentor/train junior tier personnel.
  • Assist in maintaining inventories for data protection team's HW, SW, media, and bench stock.
  • Prepare, track, and coordinate secure shipments of data protection HW and media to meet mission goals.


Qualifications

  • Proficient with change record documentation programs (e.g., Service Now), and able to demonstrate beginner skill in the creation, servicing, resolution, and reporting of assigned tickets (e.g., Incidents, Service Requests, Work Tasks, etc.).
  • Proficient and capable of assisting federal employees in the beginner level development, documentation, and updates associated with team acquisitions. (e.g., market research, product & service descriptions, exemption justifications, government cost estimates, etc.)
  • Proficient and capable of demonstrating compliance with federal policy, regulation, and procedures.
  • Proficient and capable of demonstrating intermediate skills in fundamental computer, network, & security technologies (ref: A+, Network Fundamentals, & Security Fundamentals Training)
  • Proficient and capable of demonstrating beginner skills in Microsoft Windows operating systems (ref: Windows Server Administration Fundamentals Training)
  • Proficient and capable of demonstrating beginner skill level in administration, maintenance, and repair of data protection storage systems assigned to data protection team. (e.g., Cisco Scale Protect, EMC/Dell Data Domain, IBM Tape Libraries, NetApp Storage, etc.)
  • Proficient in beginner level problem identification, diagnosis, resolution, capable of identifying need for Tier-2/3/4 escalation and capable of coordinating escalation with detailed change management records.
  • Proficient with Backup & Recovery beginner level concepts associated with Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
  • Proficient with Backup & Recovery beginner level concepts associated with multiple platforms, to include MS Windows, Linux, MS SQL, Oracle, etc.
  • Proficient and capable of demonstrating intermediate skills in the use of desktop productivity application which include Microsoft Edge, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Publisher, and Visio; Adobe Acrobat Reader; Google Chrome; and other standard applications upon new release and training.

Education:

  • AA or 2 year technical school in computer science, electronics engineering or related technical discipline and 3+ years' work experience
  • Four (4) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education (7 years total)

Clearance:

  • The ability to pass a Tier 4/High Background Investigation
