1st Shift - Equipment Technician

**This 1st shift role hours are M-Th 6:00am - 6:30pm and Friday 6:00am - 4:30. Saturday hours are available in lieu of 12 hour shifts**
An equipment technician, under general supervision, conducts preventative maintenance, repairs, and performs fleet and safety inspections on motorized vehicles, small engines and heavy equipment. Entry level and experienced applicants are accepted.
Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Performs repairs on vehicles and equipment, including brakes, engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, ignitions, air and exhaust systems and axle assemblies.
  • Inspects, analyses and determines source and issue with vehicle or equipment problem and recommends and/or implements the best and most cost effective means of needed repair or replacement.
  • Assists with required testing, certification and documentation on all equipment.
  • Responds to internal users of equipment and vehicles, explaining proper maintenance and repair plan and triaging reported problems for appropriate scheduling of repair and routine maintenance.
  • Performs required blacksmith work and fabrication on all equipment.
  • Maintains records on all equipment and vehicles, as well as daily service logs.
  • Diagnoses, dismantles, and assists with/or directly repairs tools and machinery.
  • Performs all other related duties as requested or assigned.
  • Adhere to safety requirements and equipment guidelines.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.; two years or more of technical auto mechanic training or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience.
  • Ability to drive a forklift.
  • Computer skills.
  • Ability to operate various trucks and light, medium and heavy equipment and tools; hand tools, automotive lifts and other hydraulic equipment (for purposes of repair and maintenance).
  • Welding skills.
  • Significant attention to safety standards, procedures, and practices.
  • Rapid response and accurate problem solving in emergency repair situations.
  • Prioritization of repair issues.
  • Problem identifying and solving skills and ability to explain those problems/solutions to vehicle/equipment users.
Physical Requirements:
  • Use hands to handle or feel; stand; walk; climb or balance; stop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Lift 70 lbs. floor to waist; lift 90 lbs. waist to chest; lift 25 lbs. chest to overhead; carry 50 lbs. over a distance of 50 ft.; push a 100 lbs. wheeled cart over a distance of 100 ft.; and drag 50 lbs. over a distance of 100 ft.
Work Environment:
  • Exposed to typical noises and smells associated with the production environment, such as exposure to fumes or airborne particles and production machinery. Noise level is moderate to loud.
