We would love to hear how your experiences translate to this position, the University's Mission, Vison, and Values, and encourage you to submit an application today!

JOB TITLE:

Assistant Instructional Professor in Strategic Management

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Department of Management and Marketing in the College of Business at the University of Wyoming invites applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor (non-tenure-track) in Strategic Management, beginning Fall 2025. Instructional professors can be promoted to the associate and full ranks (without tenure). The review of applications begins immediately, and the position will remain open until it is filled.

The department seeks candidates who can contribute in meaningful ways across all three pillars of academia (i.e., teaching-75%, research-20%, and service-5%). The person who fills the open position must, foremost, demonstrate a passion for innovative, experiential-oriented teaching and, thus, be able to contribute to the strong teaching reputation of the department's faculty. They may teach courses such as Strategic Management, Introduction to Management, and Introduction to Entrepreneurship. The standard teaching load in the college for instructional professors is 3 courses per semester (or 6 per year). Instructional professors can receive a reduced teaching load for leading large sections. The ideal candidate will also conduct research resulting in peer-reviewed publication at a pace that keeps them scholarly-academic qualified by the AACSB. The department annually provides these professors modest support for research and other professional development opportunities, and the college offers summer funding opportunities and research grants to support research. Finally, the person who fills this position will contribute to the service culture within the department by providing outreach support to UW stakeholders, serving on university committees, and providing student-oriented service. UW's College of Business seeks to revise and create programs that address market demands and the person who fills this position will assist their tenure track colleagues in these efforts.

Qualified individuals (see minimum and desired qualifications below) should complete the online application and upload the following: cover letter, curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., a portfolio of recent teaching evaluations), and contact information for three work-related references. Review of application materials will begin on October 15, 2024, however, the position will remain open until filled. Only completed applications will be considered. Position-related questions can be directed to the search committee chair Dr. Nick Prince (nprince@uwyo.edu).

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

By Fall 2025, candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Strategic Management or a closely related discipline. Interested candidates who are ABD must have completed their dissertation on or before August, 2025. Candidates for the position should demonstrate potential for innovative teaching, scholarly research, and service beneficial to UW. Candidates must be able to teach in traditional face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats to diverse populations of students. Finally, candidates must show a propensity for collegiality.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

An excellent teaching record with evidence of innovative, experiential-oriented methods. Evidence of ongoing high-quality research publication potential. A strong service record including evidence of the ability to advise student organizations and effectively contribute to college strategic initiatives.

REQUIRED MATERIALS:

Complete the online application and upload the following for a complete application:
  • Cover letter
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., a portfolio of recent teaching evaluations)
  • Contact information for three references

This position will remain open until filled. Complete applications received by 10/15/2024 will receive full consideration.
