We are looking for a highly motivated leader to join our clinical product team as a Director, Clinical Solutions and build out a clinical solutioning function to help accelerate growth in this maturing market that requires deep subject matter expertise and consultation. This individual will report directly to the Chief Product Officer of Clinical Solutions at Availity and will be expected to work in close partnership with our sales and account management teams to grow our clinical business. This individual will be charged with building out a clinical solutioning team who will support payer accounts, both pre and post sales, and will ultimately be accountable for driving net new revenue growth and supporting client retention and expansion. This role requires a blend of technical acumen, clinical knowledge, and strong problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping payers and technology partners successfully use clinical data and will embody a tenacious approach to winning deals and driving successful adoption of our clinical solutions, while also excelling in highly technical and strategic competencies.

To be qualified for this position you:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Business, Information Technology, healthcare or a related field
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience working at a health plan, a health technology company serving health plans, or in healthcare consulting serving health plans
  • Demonstrated success in achieving topline revenue growth
  • Deep expertise in health plan clinical data use cases and how to effectively use clinical data within payer workflows including, but not limited to:
    • Payment
    • Utilization Management
    • Quality/HEDIS
    • Risk Adjustment
    • Care Management/VBC
    • Population Analytics
    • FHIR interoperability
  • Proficiency in clinical data processing and data standards (e.g., Hl7v2, CCDA, FHIR) and can speak to its challenges
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working across sales, account management, product and technology teams
  • Ability to adapt and learn quickly, especially regarding new product features and market needs.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, demos, and industry events.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with customers and partners
  • Overseeing the execution of complex multi-phase projects

You will set yourself apart with:

  • Possess a deep understanding of targeted payer use cases and leverage this knowledge to shape discussions around successful application of clinical data to these workflows.
  • Display thorough understanding of clinical data standards (e.g., Hl7v2, C-CDA, FHIR), their challenges, as well as API processing
  • Incorporate ROI model discussions during consultations with prospects and in ongoing conversations with customers.
  • Have unique ability to combine understanding of use case economics and financial modeling with solution expertise.
  • Translate complex technical jargon into comprehensible language for non-technical audiences while maintaining credibility with technical stakeholders
  • Adjust conversations dynamically to meet the expectations of prospects and clients.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to provide both technical and product subject matter expert support to the commercial and client services teams.

You will be:

  • Drive top-line revenue growth by maturing clinical sales opportunities in close collaboration with the sales team. Specific activities include:
    • Serving as the strategic and technical linchpin during sales engagements, excelling in a variety of capacities as required by the situation.
    • Partnering with sales to mature later stage deals with health plans and health information technology vendors.
    • Pitching to health plan department leaders spanning Quality/HEDIS, Risk Adjustment, Population Health and Care Management, Utilization Management, and claims adjudication.
    • Building prescriptive plans and solution proposals to advance deals and ensuring opportunities in the clinical pipeline are progressing.
    • Craft solution designs and data flow diagrams based on Availity clinical solutions integrated into client architecture.
    • Lead or deliver compelling presentations/demos of Availity clinical solutions to potential clients, either independently or alongside the sales team.
    • Lead clinical RFP responses in close collaboration with our growth and proposal management team
    • Lead pilot engagements with prospective customers and present detailed analyses relevant to the customer's clinical use-cases.
  • Build out clinical success function and ROI stories to support revenue retention in close collaboration with the account management team. Specific activities include:
    • Advise and guide clients and partners on software solutions, integration concepts, and delivery techniques.
    • Offer support during implementation phases, focusing on technical solution design, functional expertise, and alignment to priority use cases
    • Leverage internal analytic tools and product SME support to present data-driven insights to clients surrounding ROI and use case impact.
    • Buildout and operationalize clinical use case ROI playbooks and a clinically focused customer engagement model to drive clinical solutions value and ROI realization - operationalizing
    • Engage with customers to identify clinical case study opportunities that demonstrate ROI
    • Partner closely with the account management team to ensure customer statuses are green and develop risk mitigation strategies should statuses turn yellow
    • Manage objections adeptly, provide swift and clear answers, and handle challenges persuasively.
    • Multi-task effectively, managing diverse assignments and administrative tasks concurrently.
  • Lead the build-out of a small solutions consulting team by establishing standard processes and an engagement framework that can scale, ensuring the team meets annual objectives anchored to revenue expansion and retention, and mentoring team members.
