Non-exempt Job Summary
Responsible for supporting activities specific to Louisville Water Treatment Plant approved practices necessary to ensure that the drinking water treatment system is operated as required by State Regulations and Louisville Water policy/procedure and guidelines. If qualified and utilized as a Lead Operator, assumes any/all duties, responsibilities, and shift assignments of the Lead Operator position. WORK SCHEDULE: Non-traditional work schedule with fixed shift (36/48-hour work week) Essential Job Functions
Routinely required to interact/communicate with diverse customers and respond to inquiries and complaints in a polite professional manner. Executes in a support role operational responsibility that include but are not limited to water quality monitoring and control chemical dosages and inventories, hydraulic planning and execution and directing operations. Executes corrective actions/measures for Production Operation Systems Alarms (includes, but not limited to, treatment plants, remote pumping stations, system control valves, and large wholesale meters). Travel to remote sites for troubleshooting / diagnosing issues in timely manner. Executes any/all activities associated with Treatment Plant control systems. Responsible for Chemical Attendant and/or Apprentice duties as assigned. Utilizes company owned tools and equipment require of the position. Responsible for direction, oversight and when applicable, training of assigned personnel. Operates a company owned vehicle to assigned work locations. Responds to Louisville Water overtime needs as prescribed in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and work area guidelines. Responsible for cleaning and maintaining any/all assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools. Responsible for cleanliness of Louisville Water community work areas, break rooms, kitchens, locker rooms parking areas etc. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions
Works daily in an outdoor environment with exposure to various weather conditions. Works daily in an environment that includes vehicle, equipment, and pedestrian traffic. Works daily in an environment that includes exposure to high voltage equipment/machinery and hazardous materials. Works daily in cramped /confined areas utilizing tools and equipment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to carry up to fifty (50) pounds for one hundred (100) feet. Must have the ability to lift/maneuver seventy-five (75) pounds for twenty-five (25) feet. Must have the ability to remove vault lids to access underground facilities weighing up to two hundred (200) pounds. Must have the ability to walk long distances on uneven surfaces. Must have the ability to make precise arm-hand movements applicable to all tools and equipment required for the position. Must have the ability to climb ladders (heights of up to forty (40) feet) and steps. Must have the ability to wear a HAZMAT suit and a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for Level A contamination. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent; and One (1) year of operational experience in a surface water treatment plant using conventional filtration or have completed the following courses offered by Sacramento State Water Treatment Plant Operation Volume 1 and Water Treatment Plant Operation Volume 2 (or equivalent approved by management); and Valid Driver's License. Qualified candidates must obtain Class IV-A License within 12 months of becoming eligible under state guidelines and successfully complete electrical safety training. Preferred Qualifications
