BS Pharm or Pharm D degree in Pharmacy. New Mexico Board of Pharmacy License required. Required - NM Pharmacist Vaccination Prescribing Authority Certification. This person has acquired the necessary practice skills in order to appropriately evaluate prescription orders through experience or self-study. Applicant must enjoy interacting with people

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
*Verification of medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness. Review of medication profiles. Assists in the resolution of drug therapy problems. Consultation of all new prescriptions as dictated by law. Answers other medication questions as necessary.

*Use a systematic approach to address medication information needs by effectively searching, retrieving, and evaluating the literature and appropriately communicating and applying the information to the patient care situation.

*Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, QA program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

*Performs or oversees compounding, packaging, labeling and dispensing of medications.

*Maintains proper inventory control and storage including the secure storage of controlled substances and inventory records.

*Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-services and workshops.

*Oversees the activities of technicians, interns, students and cashiers. Participates in training pharmacists, technicians, students and cashiers. Is PIC when the only pharmacist in facility.

*Participates in education programs for pharmacy staff, attends meetings as required and participates on committees as needed.

*Consults with and advises healthcare providers regarding optimal and cost effective utilization of drugs

*Responsible for adherence to the Department Compliance Plan for Controlled substances.

*Performs dispensing and compounding functions utilizing automated technology.

*Performs other functions as required.
