Shift:Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm * Base Pay Range: $16.68 - $26.31 per hour, based on experience

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Collects and enters 100 percent of eligible bariatric surgery cases into the MBSAQIP Data Registry Platform in accordance with coding guidelines and quality standards. Prepares and presents quarterly reports and outcome trends to program leadership and staff to support quality and safety goals. Participates in weekly complication reviews, monthly peer review, and related safety and quality meetings by contributing data and identifying trends. Conducts targeted studies and data extractions to support performance improvement and patient safety initiatives. Maintains an up-to-date patient database by abstracting preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative data from hospital and surgeon office records. Tracks long-term patient outcomes, including six-month and annual follow-up, using hospital medical record systems and coordinated outreach with clinic staff. Maintains knowledge of MBSAQIP and American College of Surgeons registry guidelines, updates, and standards. Serves as an internal resource for registry-related education, developing materials, and delivering presentations as needed. Participates in internal audits and external site visit preparations to ensure ongoing accreditation compliance. Completes the MBSCR Online Training Program and participates in required national, regional, or state-level training meetings. May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate's degree (or equivalent credit hours), completion of an accredited course of medical records technology, nursing, or a related medical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired. One (1) year of experience in a hospital surgery department, surgical clinic, or with medical records or clinical data abstraction. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in a health-related field. Credentialing such as RHIA, RHIT, LPN, RD, RN, or BSN. Completion of an accredited course in medical records technology, nursing, or a related field. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
