Job Information

The Department of Environmental Health Sciences (EHS) within the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work (Stempel College) at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for a tenure-track position with expertise in the field of cancer biology with a specific interest in exploring the impact of environmental factors on oncogenesis, disease progression, and/or treatment outcomes. The Department of EHS addresses health effects related to environmental exposures through research, education, and service to promote healthier lives. The EHS department includes extramurally funded faculty with research expertise in cancer, stem cell biology, gene-environment interactions, and neurodegenerative diseases. With the Brain, Behavior, and the Environment as the new Emerging Preeminent Program, the EHS Department is particularly interested in studies on the role of environmental pollutants in neurological diseases across the lifespan. QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should have a Ph.D., M.D., or an equivalent degree in a biomedically-relevant discipline. A successful candidate will possess a strong record of scholarship and the ability to conduct innovative, state-of-the-art research examining environmental influences on cancer biology. Demonstrable teaching and mentoring abilities will also benefit prospective candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The selected candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an original, creative, and independent research program with evidence of high quality and productivity. Opportunities to participate in other multidisciplinary research projects within the department will be available to successful applicants. It is anticipated that these research endeavors will produce publications in high impact peer-reviewed journals and lead to the successful submission and management of investigator-initiated grant proposals. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the department's educational mission through teaching and advising Master's and Doctoral students. A portion of the candidate's effort will also be devoted to academic service to the community, department, and university.
