Job Summary

Ensures the security and safety of museum's collections, staff and visitors by executing all aspects of museum physical security and special events operations. Implements security policies and procedures and facility entry and egress access control. Conducts interior and exterior roving patrols of building areas and monitors and responds to emergency situations. Coordinates shift operations, security postings and completes all shift and daily reports.

  • Conducts interior and exteriors roving patrols of building areas and monitors security cameras.
  • Performs essential duties in emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
  • Implements museum security policies and procedures including building opening and closing procedures.
  • Monitors and responds to emergency response situations such as hurricanes, evacuation exercises, fire alarm response and other life threatening incidents. Prepares incident reports as required.
  • Implements facility entry and egress access controls.
  • Provides back-up support for operations that includes: answering telephones, routing calls as appropriate, greeting visitors, receiving deliveries and providing routine information regarding the museum.
  • Ensures compliance with University standards for building safety and security and attends security and safety training.
  • Coordinates the security operations for daily shifts including the assignment of staff to security posts, and overall oversight for shift activities and incidents.
  • Completes and submits all shift and daily logs for security activities and incidents.
Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience in related field.
Desired Qualifications

  • One to two years of museum and/or security experience from a cultural asset protection operation and/or special events coordinator program.
  • Experience in the field of protecting high value or cultural and historical property is highly desirable.
