Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sediment Remediation Engineer, Geologist, or Scientist to join our sediment remediation practice in our Pacific Northwest Branch with offices in Portland, OR, and Boise, ID, or other Geosyntec Branches. The position will help grow our sediment remediation practice while contributing to challenging environmental projects including the financial and technical evaluation, design, permitting, and construction stages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Business development; including bringing in new clients and obtaining repeat business from existing clients, leading proposal preparation, and developing and implementing a business development plan;
  • Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
  • Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors;
  • Work plan development, data evaluation, and report writing;
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps and figures using GIS/Environmental Visualization Software (EVS) applications, and database management;
  • Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
  • Review and manage written document production;
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties;
  • Conduct fieldwork including multi-media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction;
  • Direct multi-disciplinary project teams;
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration. (i.e., P.G. or P.E.) (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of direct environmental consulting experience in the Pacific Northwest marketplace; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. (required)
  • Proven leadership skills. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Prior research experience in contaminated media or remediation technology. (preferred)
  • Previous field experience, for example, sediment sampling, porewater sampling, observation of well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and/or other field techniques. (preferred)
  • Regional visibility through involvement in professional associations or trade organizations. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation. (preferred)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
