Job Summary:

The Division of Nephrology is recruiting a General Nephrologist. They will be responsible for maintaining expertise in primary kidney disorders, as well as the management of systemic kidney dysfunction. This will include performing diagnoses, establishing health care plans, and managing patient care. Additional duties include the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as participation in additional academic and administrative endeavors.

Responsibilities:

Clinical track duties:
Successful candidates will be expected to provide coverage of Nephrology Division hospital services, as well as other UW Health approved location(s). They will also provide clinical teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows. They will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health.

CHS track duties:
Successful candidates will be expected to provide coverage of Nephrology Division hospital services, as well as other UW Health approved location(s). They will also provide clinical teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows. They will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health. Participation in research endeavors of the Division is also expected.

An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

For appointment at Associate Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate Professor on the CHS Track.

For appointment at Clinical Associate Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the
department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate Professor on the CT Track.

MD, DO, or equivalent


Qualifications:

Strong written and verbal communication skills, evidence of excellence in nephrology clinical practice and teaching, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and academic interest in health care disparities and/or social determinants of health in persons with kidney disease with prior publications in peer-reviewed journals preferred.


License/Certification:

Required

Eligible for Wisconsin Medical license

Required

Board Certified/Board Eligible in Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.

The department will not be able to support a request for a J-1 waiver.

This position has been identified as a position that will be located in or regularly access UW Health locations. This position will need to adhere to UW Health policies and affiliated requirements. UW Health requires that anyone (all staff, faculty students, volunteers, and other affiliated individuals) working in or regularly accessing UW Health locations receive the COVID-19 primary vaccination series and first booster.
