Job Summary:

This position will primarily provide psychiatry care to a variety of adult outpatient care. This position will also supervise and mentor residents/fellows/trainees.


Responsibilities:

This position offers a variety of clinical care settings. In addition to having an individual caseload of patients, the successful candidate may work in a team-based model of outpatient care and may have the opportunity to work in a collaborative care model.

Provide psychiatric care for a variety of pediatric and/or adult patients (90%):
-Provide care across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
-Service on appropriate department and medical school committees.
-Participate in other department teaching activities.
-Share in call schedules.

Provide supervision, mentorship, and teaching (10%):
-Supervise, mentor, and teach psychiatric residents, psychology interns and medical students.

The successful candidate will supervise residents and medical students and may provide direct supervision in resident clinic. The position includes supervising residents taking call for the UW and VA Medical Center hospitals as well as sharing holiday call for the UW psychiatric units. The position includes protected time for academic interests and department-wide educational activities, and fellows.

Required
Terminal Degree
MD or DO required


Qualifications:

-Successful completion of residency in Psychiatry.
-At least one year of clinical experience in the treatment of psychiatric disorders preferred.

-For appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.

-Credentialed with UW Health managed care plans, credentialing and staff privileges at UW Hospital and VA Hospital must be completed by start date.


License/Certification:

Required
MD - Physician - State Licensure
Wisconsin Medical License obtained by start date. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Adult Psychiatry required.


Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 50% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
