The purpose of this position is to support manufacturing. Under the direction and guidance of the Production Coordinator, this position will lead and direct production line associates to set up, operate and maintain equipment to meet manufacturing targets for safety, quality, delivery and cost. This position leads the production team in meeting production schedules, facilitating the safe and productive manufacture of high-quality products, effectively driving and maintaining the standardized work process. The Team Leader is also responsible for developing team members and leading continuous improvement activities using lean manufacturing tools, including 5S (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) and waste elimination.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coaches associates on adherence to safety procedures, including correct use of PPE, daily safety checks and workplace inspections

  • Identifies, coordinates and resolves safety issues and facilitates Behavior-Based Safety

  • Plan rotations and training to the standard operation procedure (SOP) for production associates to ensure quality products to the customer, smooth production, low scrap, and no rejects

  • Analyze all inventory discrepancy and develop improvement action plans

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all processes, procedures, and equipment

  • Ensure associates adhere to standard operation procedures

  • Assist Coordinator with daily activities

  • Verify production documents are properly completed and maintained, and appropriate action is taken to contain and control out of compliance conditions

  • Keep line running with immediate actions (station assignment, engineering/IT support request, notification to QC with part issues, and request to Coordinator when needed)

  • Train, develop, and mentor associates

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues

  • Inspect materials, production, and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions

  • Root cause analysis and countermeasure development and implementation

  • Process support (maintaining equipment and troubleshooting)

  • Train & develop backup per each process/machine

  • Ensure proper completion of documentation

  • Schedule attainment

  • Liaison between Production, Quality, and Engineering

  • Effectively communicate with all associates and the next shift Team Leader about any and all issues/concerns resulting from your shift's operations

  • Provide timely and effective feedback to help associates strengthen specific skills needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)

  • Minimum of 3 years related work experience performing production work on multiple functions in a manufacturing environment including troubleshooting equipment issues effectively

  • Basic level proficiency with PowerPoint, Windows, MS Word and MS Access

  • Understanding of manufacturing operations and processes

  • Intermediate level proficiency with Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-year college degree

  • 5P Training (5 Principles of Problem Solving: Define, Identify, Implement, Verify, Feedback/Feed-Forward)

  • Previous supervisory experience

Essential to Job Functions -- Physical and/or Mental Restrictions:

  • Ability to work for long periods of time while standing

  • Standing, walking, and bending for the duration of the workday

  • Must have the ability to carry out instructions, provided in written, oral ordiagram

  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, make minor adjustments and/or perform preventive maintenance on equipment

  • Experience in effective use of quality control gauges/equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product and process specifications

  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, 35 pounds occasionally, and push, pull, tug up to 50 pounds

  • Visual ability to work accurately with detailed information and a computer screen

  • Full motor skills

Supervisory:

  • Will supervise

Work Environment -- Travel, Noise, Smells, Quiet, Indoors or Outdoors, etc.

  • Requires 25% travel - Domestic and International (may include short term assignment in foreign country)

  • Factory setting with noise
