The Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP), Rutgers University invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer (PTL) teaching positions to teach a summer-session course (Summer I, 2021) in Biological Basis of Behavior (18:820:622). The position entails teaching doctoral level students in the clinical and school departments of GSAPP as part of the Discipline Specific Knowledge (DSK) series (required for APA accreditation). Instructors with training and expertise in biological bases of human behavior, neuro-psychology, neuro-anatomy, or neural functioning related to human behaivor are strongly encouraged to apply. The course is designed to provide students with an integrated overview of the science of the biological bases of human behavior, the field that concerns itself with linking function with brain structure. A prepared syllabus is available for review. Candidates will assume primary responsibility for developing or refining the course syllabus, presenting high quality lectures, running class discussions and other teaching activities, and evaluating students based on course expectations and program-wide competencies. PTL's are expected to adhere to high quality instructional practices that integrate multiple modalities and approaches, such as whole class lecture, small group activities, videos, role playing etc. Hybrid formats using a combination of online and in-person platforms may be applied with the appropriate plan.

The course would be taught in Summer Session 1, 2021 (May-June) with the possibility of recurring appointments. The position would be housed in the Department of Clinical Psychology.

Minimum Education and Experience

A doctorate in psychology or related field relevant to course content area;

Strong communication and organizational skills

Demonstrated knowledge or expertise in the specific course content

Overall responsibility of course instruction and assessment of student competencies.
