Program Manager, High Reliability - Quality and Safety - Days

The PI Program Manager, High Reliability position will assist in our aspiration of being America's safety and most caring health system by coordinating and executing systems & strategies to improve the reliability of the organization. This position will manage high reliability initiatives for the organization, including LeanSTEPPS, HRO Leadership Standard Work, and Safety Behavior programs. Acts as a subject matter expert in High Reliability Organizing, Just Culture, Patient Safety, & Systems Thinking.
Manage a large program with multiple concurrent work streams, and focuses on several complex initiatives that address, implement, and apply HRO sustainment across the health system. Identifies major phases, implementation steps, success metrics, timelines, resource needs and potential obstacles.

PI Program Manager serves as the Program Manager on programs for the VCU Health System. Collaborates with organizational leaders to provide clear program vision, value and deliverables to achieve Health System goals and ROI. Partners with business stakeholders to develop clear program plans, identify and execute project portfolio within program, define program metrics and report on program status and results. Serves as the senior lead on programs utilizing advanced performance improvement tools and facilitation to manage multiple projects within a program and across the entire enterprise.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:

PMP certification or equivalent training/experience, or Lean, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:

PMP certification, or Change Management, Business/Customer Relationship Management or Communications certification

Experience REQUIRED:

Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible positions with 7-8 previous Project Management experience.

Experience PREFERRED:

Minimum 8 years of project management experience, preferably in a health care setting managing multiple projects. Experience in PDSA Methodology.

Education/training REQUIRED:
Master's degree in business, statistics, healthcare management or related degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience in addition to minimally required work experience

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills in order to oversee process improvements, problem solve, and develop sound recommendations. Experience in managing large complex cross-functional programs and projects including planning and organizing work to achieve project and organizational objectives. Experience managing multiple concurrent projects or multi-track programs using project management practices and methodologies and process improvement techniques. Experience in financial management, modeling, forecasting, and budgeting. Strong project management and business analysis skills, including the ability to interpret business needs, translate needs to application and communicate via business process improvement techniques. Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, delegate, and influence. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of key stakeholders, including hospital executives, patients and families, hospital administrative staff, clinicians, and external vendors/contacts. Ability to plan, organize, and influence the work of others in order to achieve project and organizational objectives. Ability to manage change, shifting business priorities, demands and timelines. Experience directly managing project managers.

Uses these skills to foster the development of enterprise-wide HRO and serves as a subject matter expert for team, department and organizational initiatives supporting the broader enterprise program.
