Inpatient and Outpatient coverage when needed and available.

The Occupational Therapist conducts evaluations on referred patients.

The Occupational Therapist plans and implements a comprehensive treatment program that includes discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow-up or continued care.

The Occupational Therapist documents results of the OT evaluation and services provided in accordance with hospital and department guidelines.

The Occupational Therapist participates as a member of a self-directed departmental team as well as a member of an interdisciplinary patient care team.

The Occupational Therapist provides clinical instruction to OT and OTA students as needed. This position provides training and education to department and hospital staff.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Licensed (or licensed eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Completion of licensing requirements for new graduates within 1 year of graduation. Maintenance of licensure once granted.
Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area

Experience REQUIRED:
New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist

Experience PREFERRED:
Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility

Education/training REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy

Education/training PREFERRED:
Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy

Independent action(s) required:
Evaluation and treatment of patients with routine diagnoses.
Setting schedule and managing time.
Reporting in interdisciplinary rounds.
Goal setting for routine diagnoses.
Completion of routine documentation.
Interaction with the interdisciplinary team and self-directed work team.
Customer interaction.

Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):
Occupational Therapist provides supervision for Rehab Technicians, COTA staff, volunteers and students doing clinical rotations.

Additional position requirements:
Schedules and work hours will be established with your specific Manager.
Schedules, including weekends and holidays, will be required based on the unit's organizational and staffing needs.

As appropriate based on unit assignment.

Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate):
Physical - Lifting 50-100 lbs.
Activities: Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Climbing (steps, ladder, other), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive)
Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking
Emotional: Fast pace environment, Steady pace, Able to handle multiple priorities, Frequent and intense customer interactions, Noisy environment, Able to adapt to frequent change
