Student Success Technical Specialist

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Success, the Student Success Technical Specialist contributes to the overall success of University retention and persistence. The position is responsible for developing, managing, and providing project support for strategic student success initiatives and centralized services in support of the student experience. The position provides project management and operational leadership and informs university direction regarding the utilization of EAB Navigate software and data analytics. They will work collaboratively with campus partners to ensure that processes, communications, and operational workflows are clear, consistent, and timely within the Navigate student success platform.

Salary:$58,500-$62,000 Annually

Essential Functions:
  • Implement and leverage EAB Navigates predicative analytics to ascertain individual student risk to facilitate timely and strategic intervention
  • Partner with the Assistant VP to evaluate and recommend strategies based on analytics. Prepare analytical and statistical reports
  • Build custom reports and dashboards for departmental users, centered around retention efforts
  • Review and revise the student success processes in EAB Navigate such as (but not limited to) programming up-to-date staff-to-student assignments, launching and monitoring campus-wide messaging and reporting campaigns, ensuring alert and progress report functionality, and aligning EAB Navigate settings to institutional operations
  • Provide troubleshooting for various EAB Navigate users and respond to concerns or issues communicated through email or phone calls
  • Create training resources based on implemented Navigate systems to allow students, faculty, and staff to use and understand the EAB Navigate platform within Alfred University
  • Collaborate with campus constituents to develop a robust landing page on the website for EAB Navigate so that students, faculty, and staff can access the platform and find any resources needed to work within it
  • Interface with various programs and staff groups to ensure that each office can use EAB Navigate for their needs while also complying with University processes and practices for the platform
  • Develop and manage timelines for the campus-wide rollout of additional modules/features and updates to EAB Navigate and other student success initiatives
  • In collaboration with the Registrar, develop and facilitate EAB Navigate trainings tailored to the various user roles on campus: faculty, students, staff, and administration
  • Strategize with the Assistant Vice President for Student Success and Director of the Center for Advising to ensure all institutional strategic goals related to EAB Navigate and student success are being met
  • Assist the Assistant Vice President for Student Success in the development, implementation, and assessment of a student success strategic plan utilizing Navigate to align with Alfred's strategic framework and national best practices
  • Manage the collaboration between the Center for Advising, Student Success, Institutional Research, ITS, and/or the Help Desk for student issues related to Navigate to resolve issues with access and integration of the EAB Navigate application
  • Coordinate FERPA training sessions for all new EAB Navigate users and offer periodic refreshers
  • As assigned serves as a representative on various University committees in support of student success
Qualifications-Education & Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • A bachelor's degree and two years of experience working at a higher education institution are required
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.
    • A demonstrated interest and capacity to work with complex information systems and data sets toward achieving insightful and actionable data analytics
    • Demonstrated ability to compile and analyze data
    • Understanding of best practices for student retention and persistence
  • Preferred:
    • Master's degree in a related field
    • Experience with EAB Navigate or similar software
    • Experience working as an Application Administrator

Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when required. A respiratory function test and the ability to use respirators may be required. offices located on the campus. The Campus is located in an area that contains numerous hills and slopes and maynot always be fully accessible for mobility impaired individuals.
