The Role:

We are looking for our next Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer. The PSM Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and compliant operation of manufacturing processes. This position is responsible for driving the implementation and sustainability of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, supporting adherence to OSHA and EPA regulations, and fostering a culture of safety across the facility. The role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and a proactive mindset to support continuous improvement in safety performance.

This position is located in Keokuk. IA.

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $88,065-$119,200. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the development and sustainment of a strong Process Safety Management (PSM) culture across the site, ensuring compliance with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP regulations.
  • Provide technical expertise and regulatory guidance on process safety matters, including dust hazard analysis, risk mitigation, and process safety training.
  • Manage Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and revalidations, including scheduling, facilitation, employee participation, and action item follow-up.
  • Oversee the collection and maintenance of Process Safety Information (PSI) and ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Drive the Management of Change (MOC) process, including Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs), contractor safety reviews, and tracking of related documentation.
  • Support and oversee Mechanical Integrity (MI) and Critical Asset Integrity programs, including the review of inspection reports and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Develop and update Emergency Response and Major Accident Response Plans and standardize Operating Procedures across the facility.
  • Monitor and analyze process safety incidents and trends; lead or participate in investigations and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Introduce and track Process Safety Performance Indicators (PSPIs) to measure program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and EHS teams to integrate process safety into day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Coach and mentor employees to build ownership of process safety, fostering engagement and accountability throughout the organization.

What You'll Need:

  • 1-5 years related experience Process Safety in a chemical/food manufacturing environment
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills in with the ability to effectively interact with site management and field operations personnel
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, team building and influencing skills
  • Ability to research, analyze, interpret and implement PSM regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Deep understanding of PSM, OSHA, NFPA, ASME, API standards and codes
  • Experience in Health and Safety management systems and auditing
  • Experience in root cause investigation techniques
  • Qualified PHA facilitator preferred or ability to become quickly
  • Knowledge of RAGAGEP (Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices)
  • Bachelor's Degree (prefer Chemical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering)
