Position Summary:

This position will be part of the xEV team for Electric Vehicle products and will be responsible for implementing and managing the quality management system to assure that product quality exceeds customer expectations and customer satisfaction is maintained. The QMS Engineer will manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Quality Management System, including coordinating and facilitating the audit process to ensure company compliance to ISO, IATF, and company standards. In addition, the coordination of third-party audits between Hitachi Astemo and contracted registrar is necessary. The Quality Systems Engineers responsibilities also includes facilitating any training needed within the organization regarding the QMS.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):

  • 4-year college degree or 3 years relatable work experience

  • Knowledge of computer systems and spreadsheets necessary to perform job duties

Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):

  • Past ISO, IATF or similar certification experience

  • Trained as IATF16949 Lead Auditor with valid certification

Essential to Job Functions - Physical and/or Mental Restrictions:

  • Ability to work flexible schedule including all shifts and days as needed

  • Ability to work for extended periods of time while sitting

  • Standing, walking, and bending for the duration of the workday

  • Ability to lift 35lbs from floor to a height of 4ft

  • Visual ability to work accurately with detailed information and a computer screen

  • Ability to use hand tools and view small components through a microscope for extended periods of time

  • Ability to travel for business (Domestic and Overseas)

Production and Location Start-up Duties:

  • Work within small team to develop manufacturing location and processes to support smooth mass production start-up of EV products.

  • Typical NPI duties as detailed by internal Astemo and customer requirements for start-up of new product/location, including set-up of the plants QMS and path to IATF registration.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to make sound business decisions, exercise good judgment, and be highly motivated

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, high level of accuracy with Root Cause Analysis

  • Maintains clean and orderly work environment

  • Interacts with various levels of associates

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of organization needed

  • Strong work ethic and self-starter personality

  • Strong abilities in auditing of systems and procedures

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

  • Open-Office Setting

  • Factory Setting with Noise
