Overview

NISA Investment Advisors, LLC (NISA) offers customized investment solutions for tax-exempt and taxable institutional clients. Responsibilities

NISA Investment Advisors, LLC offers a project-based summer 2025 internship program for college students interested in learning about asset management for some of the largest institutional investors in the world. We tailor intern projects to match the interests of interns with our business needs while providing interns experience in various aspects of investment management. Interns are exposed to the broader firm and relevant market topics through an intern seminar series hosted by senior employees at NISA. They will work in the Portfolio Management, Client Services, Investment Strategies, Credit Research, or Operations departments where examples of projects include:

    Research and analyze pre-tax and after-tax portfolio returns
  • Enhance proprietary models
  • Program bond yields simulations with the aim to find an optimal portfolio of corporate bonds to hedge a pension liability
  • Create CDS/CDX pricing tools, calculating fair value CDX spread based on physical bond pricing, and generating historical basis estimate of on-the-run CDX
  • Develop a program that predicts and charts a given treasury futures price as a function of various yield changes across possible cheapest-to-deliver bonds
  • Analyze the relationship between Euro equities and USD/Euro exchange rate to explore a possible investment strategy that profits from the volatility in FX rates
  • Use Python to research market impact models via various academic resources
  • Model and analyze indices (i.e., S&P 500, Barclays Aggregate) and fixed income securities (ABS, CMO, bonds with embedded options)
  • Perform credit analysis including environmental, social, governance (ESG) characteristics on corporate issuers
  • Research, document and analyze various ETF constituencies
  • Perform credit analysis on corporate issuers


Qualifications

  • Winter 2025 or Spring 2026 undergraduates are preferred
  • Pursuing Bachelor's degree in a strong analytical and quantitative field such as Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or Computer Science required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and within a team setting
