Durability CAE Engineer

Stellantis
United States, Michigan, Auburn Hills
Oct 29, 2026

The Vehicle Durability CAE Engineer is responsible for the design, simulation, and validation of vehicle components and systems to meet durability and structural performance targets. This role leverages finite element analysis (FEA) and multi-body dynamics (MBD) tools to predict and resolve durability issues across full vehicle platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute CAE simulations to assess durability performance of vehicle structures and components.
  • Use tools such as ANSA, Abaqus, Nastran and nCODE to model and analyze full vehicle systems.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to ensure feasibility of proposed solutions and alignment with DSM (Durability Strength & Misuse) requirements.
  • Perform root cause analysis of failures observed during physical validation testing and propose corrective actions.
  • Conduct post-processing of simulation data including damage calculations, load histograms, and comparative assessments.
  • Document and present findings to cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Maintain and update simulation models based on latest design iterations and test feedback.
  • Coordinate with test engineers to correlate simulation results with physical test data.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, Civil, Automotive Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in CAE durability analysis.
  • Proficiency in ANSA, Abaqus, Nastran and Metapost.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle suspension systems, structural mechanics and fatigue theory.
  • Familiarity with nCode or DesignLife for fatigue analysis.
  • Ability to interpret real-world and simulation data to ensure model fidelity.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with ADAMS for multi-body dynamics modeling is a plus.
