Must Have Technical/Functional Skills Core Technology Stack
- Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP): architecting shared business logic layers
- Server-Driven UI (SDUI): designing extensible layout engines to dynamicize screen rendering
- Native platforms: Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) and iOS (Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI)
- GraphQL (Netflix DGS) and GraphQL Federation layers; GraphQL BFF patterns
- Backend: Spring Boot 3.5, Java 21, REST APIs, and microservices integrated with core services such as SearchNav, ProductGateway and TypeAhead
- Distributed systems: microservices, server-side GraphQL patterns, high-performance multi-layered JVM in-memory caching
Quality, Delivery & Security
- Automated unit/integration testing: JUnit 5, XCTest, MockK, Espresso, XCUITest
- Visual regression testing: Paparazzi and Shot
- Mobile delivery pipelines: Bitrise, Fastlane, TestFlight, Firebase App Distribution
- Automated security testing: Static (SAST) and Dynamic (DAST) Application Security Testing
- Performance instrumentation: New Relic, GCP Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, distributed tracing across hybrid mobile-to-backend journeys
Authoring & Personalization
- Contentful (CMS), Adobe Target, and centralized remote configuration
AI Expertise
- Practical, hands-on experience with GenAI APIs, LLM prompt engineering, and code-generation tools/agents to accelerate development
Experience
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 4+ years leading architecture as a Principal / Senior Principal for a major consumer-facing mobile application
- Proven track record of executing a major technology renovation / modernization strategy (preferably including SDUI, KMP and GraphQL BFF elements)
Roles & Responsibilities Delivery and Execution
- Lead portfolio-level Principal meetings
- Create and architect foundational code elements that can be reused across a portfolio
- Develop POCs with new technologies and pave the way for portfolio adoption
- Track and monitor efficient usage of cloud resources and drive cost reduction opportunities and enhancements
Strategy and Planning
- Work with a Distinguished Engineer to define technology solutions (open source or vendor) that teams should explore and/or leverage
- Work across local teams to unify strategy and alignment
- Identify and remove potential roadblocks and bottlenecks across large cross-functional projects and initiatives
- Participate in and influence development of technology roadmaps within a given portfolio
- Drive thought leadership and innovation within a given portfolio
