The Senior IT Project Manager for Network Infrastructure is responsible for leading enterprise-scale network initiatives from inception through successful deployment. This role drives the execution of complex hardware refreshes, cloud network integrations, datacenter migrations, and network security deployments. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical engineering teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors, ensuring that mission-critical network projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget with minimal disruption to business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Lifecycle Management
- Direct the end-to-end delivery of complex network projects, including LAN/WAN upgrades, SD-WAN deployments, wireless infrastructure enhancements, and firewall/security implementations.
- Develop comprehensive project artifacts, including project charters, resource plans, WBS (Work Breakdown Structures), detailed schedules, and risk management logs.
- Manage project budgets ranging from $500K to $5M+, tracking capital and operational expenditures, forecasting, and resolving financial variances.
- Lead strict Change Management processes to ensure network deployments and cutovers are scheduled with proper rollback plans and minimal business impact.
- Present project status, risks, and financial performance to executive-level stakeholders.
- Drive stakeholder engagement and alignment across technical, business, and healthcare leadership teams.
- Maintain project governance artifacts, including RAID logs, status reports, and resource assignments.
- Deliver weekly project status reporting and proactively escalate risks, issues, and funding concerns.
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for project communications, coordination, and execution.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Coordination
- Matrix-manage teams of Network Architects, Engineers, Security Analysts, and field technicians to ensure clear alignment on project deliverables.
- Facilitate regular cadence meetings, daily stand-ups (if Agile), and executive steering committee presentations.
- Translate highly technical network concepts into clear business impacts for non-technical stakeholders.
Vendor & Procurement Management
- Manage relationships with ISPs and hardware vendors (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, Aruba, Juniper).
- Drive the RFP/RFI process for new network solutions and oversee the procurement, shipping, and staging of network hardware across global sites.
- Hold vendors accountable to SLAs, delivery timelines, and statement of work (SOW) commitments.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of dedicated IT Project Management experience.
- 3+ years of specific experience managing complex network infrastructure or datacenter projects.
- Proven track record of managing multi-site, global, or enterprise-wide network deployments.
- Demonstrated experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders.
- Strong vendor management experience, including accountability for deliverables and timelines.
- Experience managing project financials, including forecasting, variance analysis, and budget reporting.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong foundational understanding of core network concepts and technologies (Routing/Switching, SD-WAN, VPNs, Wi-Fi 6, Load Balancing).
- Familiarity with network security deployments (Next-Gen Firewalls, Zero Trust Architecture, NAC).
- Proficiency with enterprise PPM and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Smartsheet, MS Project, ServiceNow).
- ServiceNow PPM experience strongly preferred.
Certifications & Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 certification strongly preferred.
- ITIL v3/v4 Foundation certification is highly desirable.
- Foundational network certifications (e.g., Network+, CCNA) are a strong plus.
Key Competencies
- Crisis Management: Ability to remain calm and decisive during high-stakes network cutovers or unexpected outages.
- Negotiation & Influence: Capable of securing resources and driving consensus across siloed IT departments without direct reporting authority.
- Meticulous Organization: Exceptional attention to detail regarding hardware logistics, circuit delivery dates, and dependency tracking.
