The Design Responsible (DR) - Fuel & Urea Delivery Modules, Fuel Filters, Liquid Pressure Sensors, SCR and PWM Fuel Delivery System Integration will be responsible for leading a team of Engineers, including Developments Lead and Specialists in the design, development, synthesis, and release of Fuel and Urea Delivery Systems for all NA programs while maintaining Global Core responsibilities for related components.

The Design Responsible will work with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, Advanced Vehicle Engineering, PCAL and EE to solve engineering and packaging issues, feasibility, and timing. Work with Packaging and Advance Concepts (PAC) to assure packaging and vehicle architecture support robust designs that comply to our design requirements, and Design Best Practices. Meet design release milestone/program timing dates with all related Key Process Indicators deliverables and interface with purchasing to support ED&D and production sourcing decisions. They will also support program launch and problem-solving activities including in-plant build support, SQ production demonstration trials, plant yard holds, quality improvement initiatives using Proactive and Reactive tools, and technical cost reduction ideas.

Assure designs are robust for manufacturability and service via direct interaction with Tier 1's and directed Tier 2 sources. Revise designs to ensure components can be manufactured using various manufacturing technologies to meet cost targets, and specified quality requirements. Develop and maintain harmonized Core Document; PF standards, DFMEA, DVP&R, Functional Objectives, lab/test procedures (LP) and design best practices. Also responsible for program documents related to DFMEA and DVP&R, and Design Acceptance Criteria. Assure feed forward and read across Lessons Learned best practices, etc. Establish, implement and maintain standardization plans for key components such as fuel delivery, urea supply modules, fuel filters, liquid pressure sensors and fuel/urea control modules. Leverage/implement DFSS tools and related methods in the decouples realm, while using Reactive tools to resolve development and field warranty issues.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum 10 years design and release experience in fuels and urea systems, specifically FDM's, UDM's, and SCR Systems.
  • Excellent understanding of fuels and urea systems requirements; packaging, component and vehicle level functional objectives/requirements
  • Previous involvement in three major launches
  • Prior or current experience leading directly or indirectly a group of engineers
  • Basic understanding of STLA warranty information systems
  • Understanding of vehicle packaging, body, exhaust, driveline, energy management, NVH and Aerothermal
  • Reactive Green Belt certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET accredited university
