The School of Education is an academic unit reporting to the Provost. The School is a major center of research, teaching, and public service within the State of North Carolina, the nation, and the world. The School offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate programs. | Position Summary |
The School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a faculty position in School Counseling at the rank of Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate, or Clinical Professor, starting July 1, 2027. UNC's nationally recognized
CACREP-accredited School Counseling program prepares culturally responsive school counselors through rigorous coursework, immersive school-based fieldwork, and individualized professional mentorship. We seek candidates with professional experience in school counseling and a passion for preparing future counselors. This full-time, 9-month position is for a three-year term, with the potential to renew for additional terms, and will include undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision, student mentoring, and program leadership.
Candidates will: a) teach undergraduate courses in Human Development and Family Sciences as well as graduate courses in the School Counseling program in face to face, online, and/or blended formats, including fieldwork supervision courses; b) serve as the program's Clinical and Admissions Coordinator, providing program-level leadership for recruitment, admissions, and practicum and internship coordination in collaboration with School of Education faculty and staff; and c) provide advising, mentoring, and other supports to students. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a
CACREP accredited program. Candidates must also have practical experience as a school counselor (license eligible in NC). |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching and counselor preparation, including the ability to teach across the counselor education core and experience with clinical supervision, student advising and mentoring, program coordination, recruitment and admissions, and knowledge of
CACREP standards and requirements. |
