One Nevada Credit Union has an excellent career opportunity for a Senior Accounting Specialist! The Senior Accounting Specialist is a key member of the Finance team responsible for month-end close activities, ATM settlement balancing and fraud monitoring, regulatory reporting, and complex account reconciliations. This role supports the Assistant Controller, provides guidance to accounting staff, and serves as a backup for departmental functions to ensure accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls. Key Responsibilities:
- Complete month-end close activities and assist with general ledger reconciliations and issue resolution.
- Perform accounting and reconciliations for affiliated entities and support audits and examinations.
- Manage daily ATM settlement balancing, monitor cash activity, investigate discrepancies, and identify potential fraud risks.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports including the NCUA 5300 Call Report, FR-2900, 1099 reporting, backup withholding filings, property tax reports, and escheatment reporting.
- Assist in reviewing and supporting the work of Accounting Specialists, provide training, and maintain departmental procedures.
- Develop and enhance automated reconciliations, reporting tools, and workflow efficiencies.
- Recommend process improvements to strengthen controls, accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience as a full-charge bookkeeper, staff accountant, or similar role, including month-end close responsibilities.
- Financial institution or credit union experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting.
- Advanced spreadsheet and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
