As a Public Team Investment Analyst with DUMAC, Inc., you'll join a highly collaborative investment team responsible for managing a globally diversified portfolio exceeding $30 billion on behalf of Duke University, Duke Health System, the Duke Employees Retirement Plan, and The Duke Endowment.
In this role, you'll work alongside experienced investment professionals, engage with leading investment managers around the world, and contribute to meaningful decisions that support Duke's long-term mission and financial strength. Your ideas, analytical insights, and passion for investing will help shape investment outcomes across a wide range of public asset classes.

What You'll Do:

  • Partner with investment team members to identify, evaluate, select, and monitor investment opportunities across public markets.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess investment opportunities, portfolio risks, and investment performance.
  • Support portfolio construction efforts by contributing research and recommendations related to strategic asset allocation.
  • Analyze equities, hedge funds, fixed income, commodities, and other public market strategies to inform investment decisions.
  • Maintain and enhance investment databases and reporting resources.
  • Assist the Chief Investment Officer and investment professionals in preparing presentations and investment materials.
  • Draft investment memoranda, reports, recommendations, and portfolio updates.
  • Conduct independent research projects related to portfolio management, market trends, and emerging investment opportunities.
  • Participate in investment manager meetings, due diligence processes, and ongoing portfolio monitoring activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across a small, dynamic team while contributing thoughtfully to investment discussions and decision-making.


What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university completed or expected by May 2027.
  • Outstanding academic achievement and a demonstrated commitment to excellence.
  • Strong analytical, research, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with quantitative and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities with the capacity to balance multiple priorities.

  • High personal integrity and sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Interest in investing demonstrated through coursework, internships, research projects, work experience, or personal investing activities.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $108,000. Duke Universityconsiders factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
