The good-faith pay range for this role is $37,700 - $ 44,500. Actual compensation may vary and may be above the posted range based on factors such as a candidate's skills, experience, education, certifications, and work location.

Work Status - 100% Onsite, no remote work


What your job will be like:
Provide operations and developmental support of intrusion-detection systems, systems security, vulnerability testing and mitigation, and the automation of routine tasks.
In this job you will:
  • Monitor a dedicated IDS and general system and network operations for indications of intrusions or vulnerable system configurations.
  • Perform daily, detailed monitoring of pertinent security information sources.
  • Perform vulnerability scanning, reporting and mitigation in collaboration with staff members and users.
  • Support incident response activities including evidence collection and digital forensics. Provide timely dissemination of critical information to the laboratorys computer administrators and users.
  • Assist in protecting the laboratorys cloud-based applications and data.
  • Provide continuous enhancement of the laboratorys intrusion detection and monitoring systems, including evaluation and incorporation of third-party packages or in-house software, as appropriate.
  • Configure and maintain open-source and commercial security tools running on RedHat Linux and Windows systems.
  • Provide instruction to the user community on security-related matters through daily interaction, alerts, newsletters, and training classes.
  • Directly support the Systems and User Services teams in the secure administration of Linux, Windows, and Macintosh architectures.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide after-hours support where necessary.
Experience
  • Required: none
  • Preferred: Experience in JavaScript, HTML
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Science, or related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of network protocols and computer architectures.
  • Programming ability in Perl, Python, C/C++ or shell scripting.
  • Understanding of current cyber-security topics.
  • Broadband network access at home.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
