We're seeking a proactive, adaptable Quality Engineer who enjoys hands-on problem-solving, tackling technical challenges, and building expertise in a collaborative manufacturing environment. As the site's Quality Engineer in Charlotte, you'll help strengthen quality systems, resolve product and process challenges, and drive corrective actions from concept through implementation.
Spending the bulk of your time on the manufacturing floor, you'll partner with Engineering, Operations, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to interpret engineering drawings, evaluate product conformance, investigate customer complaints, and resolve supplier and internal quality issues. You'll also support supplier defect reduction, packaging enhancements, PPAP, first article inspections, PFMEA, control plans, 8D problem solving, quality metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives. Success in this role means being curious, taking initiative, and looking beyond immediate problems to find better solutions.** You'll gather and evaluate information, develop sound judgment, and take on increasing ownership of projects, from targeted process changes to broader operational and floor-layout initiatives. You'll work independently where appropriate while collaborating with experienced colleagues and engaging additional resources when needed.

Responsibilities:
- Drive process and quality improvements to strengthen product reliability, identify production concerns, implement corrective solutions, and serve as Quality Project Lead for new product introductions, as assigned.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing and quality documentation including process controls, inspection logs, visual work instructions, engineering change notices (ECNs), and related procedures.
- Implement, maintain, and audit quality management systems, including departmental procedures supporting ISO certification and participation in internal and external plant audits.
- Investigate and resolve internal and customer quality issues, analyzing defects in products, materials, processes, and procedures to identify root causes and drive timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage supplier quality issues, including nonconforming materials, supplier communications, corrective action requests, and follow-through to resolution.
- Develop and analyze quality reports and performance metrics to monitor supplier and internal manufacturing quality, identify trends, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Partner with Engineering, Customer Service, Sales, and customers on design and contract reviews, customer quality requirements, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and occasional customer audits.
- Support employee training and quality awareness, identifying production-process training needs and participating in programs that reinforce quality standards and manufacturing practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, ideally Mechanical Engineering. Other engineering disciplines considered with relevant experience.
- 3+ years of Engineering or Quality Engineering experience, including relevant hands-on engineering assignments. Internships and co-ops may be considered for exceptional early-career candidates.
- 3+ years of experience investigating and resolving product, supplier, or internal quality issues, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, interpreting engineering drawings, evaluating product specifications, and resolving discrepancies.
- 3+ years of experience supporting quality processes and continuous improvement, including experience in several areas such as supplier quality, PPAP, first article inspections, customer complaints, PFMEA, control plans, 8D, or process improvements.
- Advanced Excel proficiencey working with formulas such as VLOOKUP, and macros or similar automation, with the ability to apply these skills to Smartsheet workflows and dashboards.

Preferences:
- AQE, CSQP, ISO or auditor (CQA) certification
- Quality and manufacturing experience: Background in automotive quality, industrial manufacturing, distribution, or another ISO-regulated environment, including supplier defects, packaging improvements, customer complaints, or process nonconformities.
- Quality tools and processes: Experience with PPAP, first article inspections, PFMEA, control plans, 8D problem solving, Quality CAR systems ETQ.
- Continuous improvement: Experience leading productivity, process, workflow, or floor-layout improvements from identification through implementation.
- Systems and data tools: Experience with Smartsheet workflows and dashboards, advanced Excel functions and macros, and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or Infor.
- Project and cross-functional leadership: Project-management experience and demonstrated collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Quality, suppliers, sourcing, materials, or EHS.
- Education preference: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; other engineering disciplines are acceptable.
