Shift: Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 am to 5:30 pm

Job Description

This position provides operational and technical support to the Metals Department through specimen preparation, batch organization, reagent preparation assistance, and laboratory workflow support. Responsibilities include aliquoting specimens, preparing samples for metals analysis, performing container screening, and supporting reagent preparation activities to ensure timely and accurate laboratory testing.

Some Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect and organize samples for Metals sample preparation using production management tools
  • Compile and label tubes/vials for sample preparation
  • Coordinate with testing departments to ensure timely delivery of samples and materials
  • Retrieve and transport specimens under Chain of Custody from Processing to the Metals laboratory
  • Transport batch deliveries and pick-ups between testing departments
  • Aliquot clinical case specimens for Metals testing according to laboratory procedures
  • Re-stock laboratory supplies as needed
  • Monitor equipment maintenance through TempTrak and respond to alerts as needed
  • Relocate samples or QC materials in the event a unit becomes unavailable
  • Participate in departmental meetings and projects
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to read and comprehend company procedures and apply them to work operations
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Must be flexible in scheduling and available for overtime as required
  • Good customer service focus and ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Clear, neat and legible penmanship

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to talk, hear, stand, reach with hands and arms, and use hands and fingers to manipulate instrument/equipment controls, computer keyboard, office equipment, objects, or tools
  • Moving from one work location to another to sit and stand, sometimes for extended periods of time
  • Vision (with correction) including color, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Lifting objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to travel as needed for court testimony and/or training.
  • Exposure to intermittent or constant sounds generated by equipment.
  • Exposure to fumes, noxious odors and dust.
  • Handling of biological material and blood-borne pathogens.
  • Handling of toxic or caustic chemicals.
