HR Generalist Overview:

Sun Country Airlines is seeking an HR Generalist to provide practical, responsive support across Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partner operations. This Minneapolis-based role is designed as a temporary Sun Country employee position through the System Operations Control Center (SOC) transition. Approximately 50% of the role will support Talent Acquisition onboarding activities, and approximately 50% will support HR Business Partner administrative activities, responding to routine leader questions, maintaining accurate records, and coordinating HR processes. The HR Generalist serves as a first point of contact for employees and leaders, resolves routine matters, and appropriately escalates complex or sensitive issues to the applicable TA or HRBP team.

  • Answer employee and manager inquires related to HR process and policy interpretation, employee benefits. Ability to issue spot in order to triage broader or more complex inquiries to proper HR and/or operational functional partner


Talent Acquisition Team Duties



  • Coordinate pre-employment candidate screening process and facilitate new-hire onboarding process for single requisition and mass hiring classes.
  • Coordinate complex, ever-changing scheduling while maintaining strong, efficient communication between candidates, Talent Acquisition Partners, and all other stakeholders.
  • Anticipate possible issues before they arise and effectively problem solve in advance. This includes independently making quick, educated decisions, and seeking coaching/support where needed.
  • Act as a guide for candidates from the recruiting-to-onboarding process to create a smooth transition.
  • Support the creation and implementation of innovative recruiting solutions as a key contributing member of the Talent Acquisition Team.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data integrity within systems to ensure accurate data tracking and reporting. Ensure all talent acquisition workflows comply with all relevant laws, polices, and practices.
  • Assist with talent acquisition activities and projects, as needed.


HR Business Partner Team Duties



  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees, leaders, and HR Business Partners by responding to inquiries and providing guidance on HR programs, policies, procedures, and initiatives, while appropriately escalating complex matters.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the HR Business Partner team, including opening and managing requisitions, preparing HR documentation, maintaining employee records, tracking action items, and assisting leaders with routine HR-related requests.
  • Partner closely with the Total Rewards team to coordinate and execute compensation reviews, job changes, organizational updates, and related HR transactions.
  • Collaborate with employees, leaders, and third-party leave administrators to support the administration of leave of absence programs, ensuring a positive employee experience and compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
  • Support employee relations matters by assisting with workplace investigations, gathering documentation, conducting fact-finding activities, and maintaining confidential records.
  • Manage and continuously evaluate the onboarding and offboarding experience, coordinating activities across stakeholders, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing enhancements that strengthen employee experience and operational efficiency.


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' HR professional experience
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Human Resources disciplines including, but not limited to compensation and benefits administration, performance management, system administration.
  • Working knowledge of HR compliance requirements, relevant employment laws, local regulatory requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); knowledge and experience utilizing HRIS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with staff at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to manage and balance a high volume of transactional and open-ended HR inquiries/issues
  • Ability to take initiative with little or no supervision
  • Works successfully in a team environment and embraces and cultivates an inclusive culture
  • Highly adaptable, responds resourcefully when challenges arise
  • Sound judgment, tact, integrity and professional
  • Solid organization, decision making and time management skills
  • Highly motivated, ability to prioritize and complete projects within deadline


Preferred Qualifications



  • Professional in Human Resources / Senior Professional in Human Resources or equivalent certificate
  • Experience working in UKG
  • Experience with process improvement activities
  • Analytic skills
  • Ability to work and problem solve independently


Compensation:

$60,000 to $70,000 per year. This is the base compensation hiring range for this role.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones photocopiers, filing cabinets.
