HJF is seeking an Education Coordinator II to support the Operational Readiness Initiative. This individual will instruct, evaluate and update instructional materials and Programs of Instruction, assist with course planning and execution, maintain equipment and facilities, and support training coordination and risk management for the Mountain, Cold Weather, and Dive Medicine Courses.

This position will be in support of Uniformed Services University Graduate School of Nursing.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.


  • Serves as Military Mountaineering SME for Mountain, Cold Weather and Dive Medicine Courses.
  • Evaluates and updates all instructional materials including instructional materials and validation tests. Validates Programs of Instruction (POI's) for Mountain, Cold Weather and Dive Medicine Courses.
  • Works closely with the Mountain, Cold Weather and Dive Medicine Course director for training evaluation and validation issues and results.
  • Assists Mountain, Cold Weather and Dive Medicine Course director with planning, organization, and conduct of the Mountain, Cold Weather and Dive Medicine Courses.
  • Serves as the Mountain, Cold Weather and Dive Medicine Courses Military Mountaineering Primary Instructor.
  • Instructs, reviews, and updates the Mountaineering POI for Mountain, Cold Weather and Dive Medicine Courses. As the primary Mountaineering Instructor, accounts for and maintains mountaineering equipment and facilities located on Camp Ethan Allen Vermont. Coordinates with the Army Mountain Warfare School for training conducted at Camp Ethan Allen.
  • Conducts and coordinates all risk management assessments for the Mountain and Cold weather Courses regardless of location.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 3-5 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Military mountaineering standards both basic and advanced. Knowledge of AMGA standards for climbing and mountaineering.
  • Extensive experience in hands on mountaineering instruction.
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work completely independently; and ability to use sound judgment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust background check.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials over 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to climb, pull, and lift heavy objects.
  • Operating motor vehicles, machinery, and/or power tools.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $67,500.00 - $89,583.25 Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
