| Job Summary |
The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Research and Experiential Learning provides leadership and day-to-day management for a portfolio of programs designed to connect UT Dallas undergraduates with meaningful research and experiential learning opportunities.
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Research, Innovation, and Experiential Learning, the Assistant Director coordinates undergraduate research programs and events, supports students seeking research opportunities, develops partnerships with faculty and campus units, oversees student employees and student leadership teams, and contributes to the development of new initiatives that expand access to undergraduate research and other high-impact learning experiences.
The position will play a central role in programs including the Undergraduate Research Scholar Awards, Undergraduate Research Week, Undergraduate Research Match Day, the Patti Henry Pinch Scholarship for Undergraduate Research, the Provost's Award for Faculty Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring, and other undergraduate research initiatives.
The successful candidate will be an organized and collaborative individual who enjoys working directly with students and faculty, can manage several complex projects simultaneously, and is interested in helping UT Dallas strengthen its culture of undergraduate research and experiential learning. |
| Minimum Education and Experience |
Bachelor's degree in related field and three plus years relevant professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. |
| Preferred Education and Experience |
- Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, education, or a related field.
- Experience managing programs or initiatives in a college or university environment.
- Experience supporting undergraduate research, experiential learning, student engagement, or other high-impact educational practices.
- Experience coordinating events, competitive awards, scholarships, or application and selection processes.
- Experience supervising student employees, peer leaders, or student leadership teams.
- Experience using data, assessment, and student feedback to evaluate and improve programs.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. |
| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Coordinate and manage major undergraduate research programs, awards, events, and initiatives, including the Undergraduate Research Scholar Awards, Patti Henry Pinch Scholarship for Undergraduate Research, and other student research opportunities.
- Coordinate Undergraduate Research Match Day and other initiatives that connect undergraduate students with faculty researchers and research opportunities.
- Assist with planning and executing Undergraduate Research Week and related research showcases, workshops, competitions, and campus events.
- Support faculty and student recognition initiatives, including the Provost's Award for Faculty Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring.
- Serve as a primary resource for students seeking undergraduate research opportunities, funding, programs, and guidance, developing outreach, workshops, presentations, and resources that increase awareness and participation.
- Work with the Assistant Dean to build partnerships with faculty, academic schools, research centers, advising units, and other campus offices to strengthen undergraduate research and experiential learning opportunities.
- Contribute to an annual review of undergraduate research and experiential learning programs, using student feedback, assessment data, and best practices to recommend program improvements.
- Collect and analyze program participation, assessment, and student feedback data, using findings to evaluate effectiveness, improve programs, and communicate outcomes.
- Supervise and support student employees, student leaders, and other students working with undergraduate research and experiential learning programs.
- Manage program operations, including application processes, communications, records, timelines, event logistics, and coordination with University offices.
- Represent undergraduate research and experiential learning programs at University meetings, committees, orientations, or other campus activities as needed.
- Some evening and weekend attendance will be required for major programs and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Remote Work Notice: After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the
DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
