The Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (MEZCPH) invites applicants to apply to join our team as a Lead Specialist, Community Health Worker (Training). This position is part of a the Arizona CHW ASCEND Community Health Worker Preparation and Upskilling Project, part of the Participatory Evaluation and Action Research (PEAR) Center at MEZCPH. The individual in this position will lead the design and implementation of Community Health Worker (CHW) and CHW supervisor training initiative in rural and Tribal Arizona. They will develop and implement capacity building initiatives with rural county health departments to support integration of CHWs . CHW ASCEND is funded by the Arizona Department of Health Services with Rural Health Transformation Program Funding. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Additional Information: The person in this position will have the option for hybrid working arrangements that includes regular travel to Tucson for project and team meetings. The person in this position will be required to travel for trainings, meetings and conferences throughout Arizona for up to 25% of the time. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Lead the design and implementation of a statewide training initiative for Community Health Worker Core Competency Training in rural and Tribal communities in Arizona.
- Serve as the PEAR Center's lead representative with community partners to liaise with community partners and consultants, identify an recruit participants, establish standards, best practices and evaluation models to ensure quality training delivery and determine community impact of 3-5 weeklong in-person trainings.
- Lead the design and implementation of a statewide training initiative for Community Health Worker supervisors in rural counties and tribal communities across Arizona.
- Serve as the PEAR Center's lead representative with community partners to identify training needs, establish the program approach, ensure quality training delivery and determine community impact of two to three online or in-person trainings.
- Advise ASCEND leadership on outreach strategy and approach to build local health department capacity for organizational integration of CHWs to support a continuum of care for rural residents.
- Develop and implement technical assistance strategies with local health department's to build local capacity for CHW integration.
- Represent the CHW ASCEND Project with the Rural Arizona CHW Network (RAzCHOW) and the CHW Workforce Development Coalition to ensure trainings meet rural CHW priorities and emerging rural health needs.
- Engage in collaborative efforts with other Participatory Evaluation and Action Research (PEAR) Center staff and faculty to cultivate a reflective work environment aligned with our participatory approach, and engage with partners according to the principles of Community-Based Participatory Research.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Candidate will have 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education in public health community outreach and program delivery.
- Candidate will have knowledge of and experience working with the community health worker workforce in Arizona, as well as experience living and/or working in rural areas.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with the Arizona CHW core competencies and CHW voluntary certification is a plus.
- Experience working in community contexts, particularly in rural areas, as well as planning, developing coordinating and implementing community-oriented programs focused on meeting the training needs of priority populations.
- Experience in training development, delivery and evaluation.
