Get to Know Your Team:

  • UT Health Pittsburg offers 25 private rooms, a 24-hour Level IV trauma center and acute stroke ready facility, surgical suites, advanced diagnostics, a sleep lab, wound healing center, swing bed care, 16 physician offices and a UT Health East Texas Olympic Center fitness facility.
  • Lead a specialized Swing Bed program within a 25-bed inpatient unit, serving short-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation patients with an average census of 5-6 patients (up to 11-12 during peak periods).
  • This role provides leadership for approximately 7-8 direct reports, including therapy and support staff, while overseeing daily operations, care coordination, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • The Nurse Manager provides innovative leadership to maximize the department's contribution to overall hospital performance through effective planning as well as human and financial resource management which result in quality outcomes in line with financial goals of the institution.
  • Provides for the delivery of care to a group of patients and evaluates the multi-disciplinary care in a systematic fashion, in order to improve outcomes.
  • The care is delivered within the framework of hospital philosophy in concert with departments and services within the hospital.
  • Responsible for assuring hospital compliance with all local, state and federal regulations as well as accrediting organizations.
  • Oversees the Swing Bed admission process, including patient eligibility reviews, insurance authorizations, and coordination of payer approvals to support timely patient transitions and optimal program utilization.
  • Collaborates with nursing, therapy, case management, and provider teams to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote successful rehabilitation and discharge outcomes.
  • Monitors regulatory compliance and program performance, ensuring adherence to Medicare guidelines, documentation standards, and Swing Bed program requirements.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Graduation from an approved school of nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Current RN license or current license deemed acceptable by the applicable State Board of Nursing
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • At least two years recent experience in the nursing specialty
  • Experience in Inpatient Rehab, Skilled Nuring or Case Management
